Islamic University Wins Debate
The Islamic University College, Ghana (IUCG) has on, March 5th, pipped the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in a debate held at the KNUST to emerge winners of the tournament. The University College was represented by its Religions Students Association of Ghana – IUCG Chapter (RESAG-IUCG)
The debate was held as part of activities marking the tenth (10th) anniversary of the Religious Studies Students and Associates of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. The event was organized under the theme 'Tapping the Talents of Students of Religion for National Development'.
The University was represented by Abubakar Hadi, Yusif Suabira Akupouka, Ramatu Alhassan Ibrahim and their coach Mumuni Al Hadar
IUCG were in the early stage pitted against host, KNUST in the first round. Representatives from either side debated on the motion “Ghana as a Nation Retrogresses with the Increase in Religiosity”, with IUCG coming out victorious.
In the final round against the University of Cape Coast, the motion was: “The Belief in God is Irrational”. Arguing for the motion, IUCG presented their case well and won unanimously. Islamic University College Ghana were crowned overall champions of the debate.
The University College took home a trophy for their sterling performance in the competition.
