The female soccer team of the Islamic University College has emerged victorious at the 10th Private Universities Association of Ghana (PUSAG) Games festival. The team snatched the trophy from the defending champions, All Nations University College with a crushing 4-0 defeat on Saturday, April 8.
Maizongo Junior opened the scoring about five minutes into the game at the Cape Coast Stadium. Not long after, she curled the ball into the net, swerving the keeper to the other side of the post to double the score in a penalty shootout in favour of the IUCG; putting the IUCG on the smoothest road to victory. All Nations University’s hope of recovery was brutally dashed out by Hawa’s third goal when she slotted in the ball crossed from the left by Issahaku Nassehat. There was literally a funeral atmosphere when Comfort Mensah scored the final goal making it a 4-0 win in favour of the IUCG.
